boat nav lights not working
I recently purchased the boat and found the bow navigation light not working. the rocker switch when switched down lights up the clear mast on the stern but the navigation lights on the bow does not light. when switching the rocker switch up, the navigation light on the bow does not light and the clear mast light on the stern goes off.. How to troubleshoot boat lights not working? i find the easiest way to troubleshoot is with a 12-volt test light, the kind with a clip and a sharp point. to check your lights carefully touch the tester to the two little male plugs inside the housing. if you don't get anything remove the stern light housing, usually 3 screws.. The navigation lights were working 2 weeks ago, but then last night the switch wouldn't light up and no lights would come on. if your boat is a 2005 then i would think you have breakers. some fuse holders look a little like that and the cap comes off to have a glass fuse under it. they do not look the same as what you have pictured though..
boat nav lights not working Nav lights are like trailer lights; hard to keep working. capt. lee is right, the problem 90% of the time is corrosion somewhere. if you don't own one; pick up a cheap test light at any auto parts store. the one that looks like an ice pick.. My green nav light is not working. i looked at the bulb and it dosen't appear to be burnt out. my red light works fine so i assume that should rule out a blown fuse. its a must if you are going to trouble shoot any electrical stuff on the boat, car, house, etc. turn of the lights and start at the bulb socket. if you got juice there, voila.
